Heathmont too strong for Forest Hill in 12–4 A-res win

Heathmont powered past Forest Hill in dominant fashion last Saturday afternoon, claiming a comfortable 12-4 A-reserve win at home.

From the very first inning, Heathmont looked in control. Their hitters came out aggressively at the start and looked confident, piling on runs early that set the tone for the rest of the match, with sharp hitting and smart base running in the first hour.

Heathmont’s coach, Patrick White, praised his team’s performance after the game.

‘’The first hour was good. We had a bit of focus today after giving the other team a jump. The second hour, once we blew the score out a little bit, was a bit tough as we let them back into the game,” he said.

Forest Hill showed signs of fight, managing to get four runs on the board thanks to a couple of fielding errors from the home side. But they were unable to match the home team’s consistency across the innings.

Heathmont’s pitchers were clinical, attacking the zone and keeping the opposition hitters off balance with a mix of fastballs and well-placed off-speed pitches. Defensively, they backed it up with clean defence and good communication around the field.

By the time the final inning rolled around, the result was out of reach for Forest Hill. Heathmont extended their lead with a few late runs, closing out the game with confidence and energy.

Declan Marshall was the star of the show for Heathmont. As one of the youngest players in the team, he explained how he gets mentored to improve and work on his game.

“There are some good mentors because they have all been playing for a while. It’s usually just keeping my composure because I can usually lose that very quickly. Having them there for the experience helps me become better,” he said.

Match of the Round is chosen in-advance each week and designed to provide coverage of the entire league across the season. It is produced with support from the MWBL’s communications and content partner, The Content Engine.
