Research Lower Plenty defeat Doncaster 12-6 in a drizzly duel

Research Lower Plenty ground out a 12–6 win over Doncaster in slippery conditions last Saturday in the Under 15s Division 2.

The dull and drizzly conditions didn’t dampen the spirits of these two teams with Research Lower Plenty making a great start, leading 2-0 at the end of the first innings.

Research extended their lead in the second scoring five runs to Doncaster’s one making the score 7-1.

Then a great last innings by both sides, each running home with five runs bringing the final score to 12-6 to RLP.

Research Lower Plenty’s head coach, Liz Coventry, praised the efforts by her team despite the wet conditions.

“The kids were very enthusiastic, showing great sportsmanship and great hitting and fielding,” she said.

“We took the challenge of the wet conditions on, which was great.”

Coventry nominated Jacob Carr to talk to us about the effort of his teammates that got them over the line.

“I think we all did very good as a group,” he said.

“We made a few mistakes but fixed them up as well as doing really good hitting.”

Carr also mentioned a milestone of his that happened during the match.

“Me personally, I think I did very well,” he said.

“I got my biggest hit during this game, which is cool.”

Next week, Research Lower Plenty take on Diamond Creek at home whilst Doncaster heads to Montmorency to take on GMBC.
