The Ringwood Saints remain undefeated after taking a strong 12-5 win over Research Lower Plenty in E-grade last Saturday.
It was the perfect day for baseball and a perfect start from Ringwood, who got out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning.
But Research responded in the second also plating four, while the Saints added two more making it 6-4.
Then once again Ringwood put another four runs on the board leaving Research runless in the third.
Both teams then put up zeroes in the fourth but added-on in the last, ending the game 12-5.
Captain for the Ringwood Saints, Sean Linley, was very happy with the way his team hit despite missing a few of their senior players.
“We were a bit up and down in the field but our batting, like always, was very good,” he said.
“We were missing a couple of our senior guys that left couple of guys playing out of position, but they were pretty adaptable which is good.”
Rowan Newman was chosen as player of the match, praising his team’s ability to get the fundamentals right.
“I think I did really well today, with a few changes in the field I went to [first base] and was able to secure those balls that came to get the outs,” he said.
“With a few changes around the field, it made all the difference to get back to basic baseball which helped us out in the end.”
Next week, Ringwood play Knox away while Research Lower Plenty head home to play Footscray.
Match of the Round is chosen in-advance each week and designed to provide coverage of the entire league across the season. It is produced with support from the MWBL’s communications and content partner, The Content Engine.
