Essendon have extended their unbeaten run to four games after a decisive home win against Research-Doncaster in the Under 17 Division 1.
The Essendon hitters put on a powerful display in their 13-1 victory.
Winning coach Cohen Breckenridge praised his team’s overall performance and teamwork throughout the match.
“I think our team’s batting was really solid all day today, it was great to see,” said Breckenridge.
“I also loved our ability to communicate as a team – that was also uplifting to see.”
Breckenridge identified catcher Liam Campbell as the player of the round.
“Liam’s home run was amazing,” he said.
Having recently returned from injury, Breckenridge was pleased with Campbell’s hitting quality and the motivation he brought to the team.
“We’ve definitely missed him over the last couple of weeks, so we’re happy to have him back.”
Campbell was impressed with the team’s intent right from the first pitch.
“I particularly thought we warmed up well and came together as a team – we had a really good intent to start the game,” said Campbell.
After returning from injury, Campbell was particularly pleased they were able to secure victory.
“It’s always exciting to get a win, we all just played really well throughout the game.”
The victory solidified Essendon’s hold on first place in the ladder, while Research-Doncaster remained in third.
This Saturday, Essendon have the opportunity to continue their four-game unbeaten run against North Balwyn, while Research-Doncaster will aim to bounce back away from home against Greenhills Montmorency.
