RLP U15s take a good win despite rainy conditions

Research Lower Plenty claimed a strong 6–3 win over North Balwyn at Glenauburn Park in an exciting U15 Division 1 clash on May 9.

Research exploded early, scoring 5 runs in the opening inning and immediately shutting out North Balwyn under pressure. From there, RLP controlled the game with solid pitching and sharp defence.

Harrison Coventry led the way on the mound, throwing 64 pitches in a composed performance before Alexander Carpenter closed things out late.

North Balwyn fought hard to stay in the contest, plating one run in the third and two more in the fifth, but they struggled to recover after the early deficit.

Ryoichiro Izuhara and Carter Murphy worked hard for the Stingers, while Tobias Hill added support on the mound.

Despite the loss, North Balwyn showed plenty of fight and never gave up.

With strong teamwork, early hitting, and reliable pitching, Research Lower Plenty earned a well-deserved win in a competitive Saturday morning matchup.

After the game both coaches mentioned the impact of the wet conditions.

RLP’s manager Evan Coventry said his team was well accustomed to the rain.

“I was excited this morning since our team is used to the wet rainy conditions,” he said.

Meanwhile North Balwyn coach Husdon Priamo acknowledged the game’s quality, despite the conditions.

“Tough game. Conditions were miserable, wet ball, but it went both ways. We battled to the end and it was a good game of baseball,” he said.
