Heathmont Baseball Club has made history in the Melbourne Winter Baseball League by fielding the competition’s first-ever Under 13 Majors all-girls team.
The milestone marks an important moment for both the club and the league, highlighting the continued growth of girls’ baseball and the expanding opportunities available for young female players across Victoria.
Competing in one of the league’s highest junior divisions, the team is breaking new ground and demonstrating that girls belong at every level of the game.
The achievement reflects Heathmont’s strong commitment to inclusion and player development, as well as the efforts of coaches, families and volunteers who have helped bring the team together.
More than just a team, these players are helping shape the future of baseball in Melbourne. By taking the field each week, they are creating a visible pathway for girls and showing what is possible with the right support and encouragement.
Regardless of the on-field results this season, Heathmont’s Under 13 Majors girls have already secured their place in MWBL history.
It is a proud moment for the club, the league and everyone working to grow the game for the next generation.
