North Balwyn held its nerve to claim a thrilling 10–9 victory over Heathmont in a high-quality contest that went right down to the final out last.
The Stingers made the perfect start, crossing the plate five times in the opening inning before steadily building their advantage through timely hitting and disciplined baseball. But Heathmont refused to go away, producing a spirited fightback to close the margin to just one run and set up a tense finish.
With both sides applying pressure throughout the game, every play carried added significance. North Balwyn’s sharp defence, quick decision-making and strong communication proved crucial as they maintained their composure under pressure.
Victorian representative Molly Lewis, fresh from helping Victoria claim the 2025 Barclay Cup in Adelaide, was influential throughout the contest. Lewis showcased her leadership with consistent offence and key defensive plays that helped the Stingers maintain their narrow advantage.
Heathmont deserves plenty of credit for its determined performance, combining timely hitting with solid defence to stay within striking distance until the final innings.
It was an entertaining game played in great spirit, with North Balwyn eventually prevailing in a close contest.
