Ringwood claimed a hard-earned 4–2 victory over Waverley in a tightly contested Men’s A-Reserve clash, with strong pitching and disciplined defence from both sides ensuring the result remained in doubt until the final innings.
Waverley made Ringwood work for every run, combining quality pitching with sharp defensive play to limit scoring opportunities throughout the afternoon. Time and again, the defence came up with important outs to keep the contest within reach.
Ringwood, however, capitalised on the opportunities that did come their way. Smart baserunning, disciplined decision-making and timely execution on the basepaths allowed them to convert scoring chances and gradually build a lead.
With both teams producing quality defensive plays and working hard behind their pitchers, the game maintained a high level of intensity from the opening pitch to the final out.
Waverley continued to apply pressure late, refusing to let the game slip away, but Ringwood’s composure in the field proved decisive as they closed out the 4–2 win.
Played in great spirit, the contest was a terrific example of the close, competitive baseball that continues to define the MWBL season.
