MATCH OF THE ROUND: GMBC clinches A-Reserve in a Tight Tussle With Melbourne Uni

GMBC clinched the A-Reserve title on Saturday, defeating Melbourne Uni in a close battle, 6-5.

Premiership coach Travis Cutt said he was beyond proud of his team’s performance.

“Enormously proud – I can’t express it,” he said.

Although GMBC built an early 4-0 lead, Melbourne Uni responded by closing the gap to just one run.

“We knew they were going to come back,” said Cutt.

GMBC held their nerve through the final innings to secure the premiership.

Cutt mentioned he was particularly grateful after the heartache of previous years.

“We’ve had a couple of attempts at this,” said Cutt.

“We’ve been a little unlucky in recent years, and to see the boys perform and stick with it this year, I’m just so unbelievably proud.”

“We just needed to stay in it, stick to our process, which I thought we did really well.”

GMBC were the dominant team throughout the A-Reserve season, finishing the regular season top of the table and defeating second-placed Melbourne Uni in each of their two finals.

Cutt was particularly impressed by how the team worked together, with no single player standing out over the collective effort.

“No particular players stood out, which is always a good sign,” he said. “When everyone contributes and works together, it’s always a positive indicator.”

“Just so proud of the team,” Cutt added.

Congratulations to Travis and the entire Greenhills Montmorency team!
