MATCH OF THE ROUND: Greensborough Women Defeat North Balwyn to Claim the Premiership

A strong grand final performance by Greensborough saw them conquer the North Balwyn Stingers and secure the Women’s premiership last Sunday.

Despite playing through windy conditions at a rowdy Myrtle Park, the Greensborough players delivered a decisive performance, winning 8-3.

Greensborough coach Cohen Breckenridge expressed how proud he was of the team’s performance in the season’s biggest game.

“I’m over the moon,” he said.

Breckenridge was particularly pleased with the immense growth the team has shown since last season.

“We had a team last year that won only one game, and now we’ve come out and won the grand final,” he said.

Greensborough finished the regular season in second place and even lost their first final against the Stingers by 10 runs.

Despite being the underdogs heading into the grand final, Breckenridge was confident in Greensborough’s ability to play team baseball.

“We’ve really worked on supporting each other as a team,” he said. “We’re able to function as one unit, instead of nine individuals.”

Despite the team performance, Breckenridge noted that the performances of key players were also crucial to their victory.

“Jazz Bentley had a great performance, throwing the entire game and doing all the little things right for the team,” he said.

“I’d also really like to thank Jason, my assistant coach – his knowledge of the game is so great.”

“It’s just fantastic to see everyone come together for this,” said Breckenridge.

Congratulations to Cohen and the entire Greensborough team for a remarkable achievement!
